Ny, the waitress

07/05/2026

I am compelled to write again, a little update. I met a girl, she is so kind, so pretty, and she has the most beautiful eyes, they were so pure. But I think I fucked it up, I don’t think she likes me anymore, I guess my height cannot carry for my horrible language skills and boring personality. God, when I came to this town, it’s called Little Saigon, I thought it was so shit, I literally saw human shit and garbage lying around, such a poor neighborhood. But I met her, her name is Ny, she doesn’t know much English but she is so cute, everything about her. Her smile, her eyes, the way she talks, I love everything about her. I was in such a despair during these past few years, and yesterday was probably the happiest day since.

I’m just going to tell a story about the day I met her, Ny. I love this coffee place called Buôn Mê and most of the waiters there know my face cause I have been there so many times, I even complimented a waitress on her prettiness the other day but I didn’t ask for her number or anything, just wanted to say it to her, and probably because I saw Ny the other day and could not keep my eyes off her. I met her on a Saturday during noon and I swore I couldn’t look away from her, she was like a pure innocent child who is happy about anything and her smile is so affectatious. She also looked at me when I stared at her but it was only because she thought I needed something from her. I mean I did but not in an excuse-me-waitress kind of way, I wanted to get to know her, I wanted to talk to her and hear her speak to me. I have left so many opportunities like this away from meeting somebody and falling in love with them, so that day, I kinda just stared at the pretty girl and kept on with my business, leaving Buon Me thinking about her. But the next Sunday came up, and she was there, as cute as ever just taking people’s orders and giving out coffees. I enjoyed the fact that she brought me my meal that Sunday, then I proceeded to keep staring at her again but I could not hold it any longer, I just really wanted to talk to her. So a coward as I am, I waited for the right moment, at some point I waited to long and I noticed she wasn’t around anymore, turned out she took a short break and I was so relieved she was back again. So, I gathered up my courage, raised my hand and asked for her, she came over and I said: “I was wondering if I could get something not from the Menu?”, she was confused at first then I restated the sentence, she finally reacted by smiling, oh her smile for me was the best thing that happened to me, I felt so much bliss I couldn’t put into words. She said oh a few times and I proceeded to say: “Could I have your phone number?”, she said: “Do you want Buon Me’s phone number so I could order online?” But I restated: “No, I want your phone number, not Buon Me”. I knew right then that she was so flattered, I wished if I got to see her again, I would just always want to make her feel that way. She smiled as she gave me her instagram as I asked for it and she asked me if I spoke Vietnamese, I said I do but I am just shy right now. After having her instagram, I don’t really remember what happened next, I think I said thank you to her, then I left the coffee place feeling so proud of myself.
